Preparing the future
TotalEnergies’ambition and multi-energy strategy
TotalEnergies is transforming and reinforce its ambition to be a world-class player in the energy transition and to get to net zero in 2050, together with society. With regard to greenhouse gas emissions, the Company is committed to lowering its carbon footprint from energy production, processing and delivery to our customers. The challenge posed by the energy transition is to move as quickly as possible from the current energy system (which is more than 80% based on fossil fuels) to a decarbonized system. For a company like TotalEnergies, that means continuing to supply our customers with the energy they need now, while accelerating our investment in the low-carbon energies that will dominate in the future: we must invest in both systems simultaneously and strike the right balance to ensure a just transition. Our multi-energy strategy in the Netherlands
The Netherlands is a fast changing and innovative market with the ambition to be a front-runner in Europe and remain an energy gateway. The country is transitioning from an energy mix dominated by fossil fuels (81% in 2021) with domestic gas production, to a 2050 energy mix dominated by renewable electricity and with hydrogen as an important carrier.
TotalEnergies is already well established in the Netherlands with activities that have a strong position in their respective markets and a key presence in the North Sea and the Zeeland and Rotterdam Hub. This unique position and strengths enable us to deploy a multi-energy roadmap, to reduce our CO₂ footprint, and thus contribute to the Company’s worldwide ambitions. Beside operational excellence and innovation in our pillar activities, we see high potential in Offshore wind, Hydrogen, Circularity, Carbon Capture & Storage and New Mobility solutions.
